Miller powers Rangers past Hibernian

Both teams had a player sent off just before halftime with Kyle Lafferty of Rangers and Kevin McBride for Hibs both seeing red. However, Walter Smith's team responded much better after the break as Miller scored his first goal in the 64th minute before adding another in the 70th and one in the 90th.

Neither side created any real good chances in the opening 45 minutes, with Lafferty and McBride making the first-half headlines as both were sent off for violent conduct.

The game opened up in the second half and Hibs looked set to take the lead as Edwin de Graaf had a look at an empty net with Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor off his line, only to have his shot blocked by defender Madjid Bougherra.

Rangers seized the advantage in the 64th minute when James Beattie dropped the ball off for Miller to fire home, while he doubled his tally six minutes later with some help from new signing Vladimir Weiss, who delivered a pass that allowed the striker to finish off the play from six yards.

Miller then completed his hat trick with a nice pass from Steven Davis on the left wing that he powered past goalkeeper Mark Brown.

Celtic put together a 4-0 win over St Mirren in other action on Sunday, while Inverness got two goals from Adam Rooney in a 4-0 triumph over Dundee United and Motherwell got past Kilmarnock, 1-0, with Nick Blackman scoring a first- half goal.
